KARACHI: Sindh Prosecution Welfare Association (SPWA) moved the Sindh High Court (SHC) for the removal of Sindh Prosecutor General Shahadat Awan, maintaining that he was nominated in the report of Joint Investigation Team (JIT) formed to interrogate Lyari gang ringleader Uzair Baloch.
The SPWA contended that Awan was misusing his powers as the prosecutor general for political gains as he was an office-bearer of Pakistan People’s Party’s lawyers’ wing, People’s Lawyers Forum. He had also appointed some blue-eyed persons in the prosecution department.
The court was requested to order the removal Awan as prosecutor general and replace him with some other person on merit.
