Action to be taken against schools, clinics lacking fire-fighting arrangements

RAWALPINDI: Civil Defence Department, Rawalpindi has decided to launch crackdown from March 1 against 30,000 private schools, colleges, academies, clinics and hospitals having no state-of-the-art fire-fighting arrangements throughout the district.

The decision was taken under the directives of Rawalpindi deputy commissioner and the operation in this regard will be carried out against the private schools, colleges, clinics as well as hospitals, wherein fire extinguishing equipment has not been installed and no emergency exit points exist.

The authorities have issued final notices in this regard.

The schools and hospitals which will be found having no modern fire extinguishing arrangements will be sealed and challans will be issued against them and their cases will be sent to magistrates.

The Civil Defence Department has started setting up teams for conducting the operation.
