LAHORE: An area magistrate on Tuesday sent two former SHOs, nominated in the fake encounter case of Kasur’s Mudassar, on a four-day remand.

The former SHOs were presented before the area magistrate by JIT member Hammad Bajwa.

As per the details, the Saddar area police had allegedly killed an innocent person Mudassar on the charges of rape and murder of minor Emaan Fatima. With the DNA of the main accused of the Zainab murder case matching those of several other minor girls including Emaan, questions were raised on Mudassar’s killing.

A writ petition was filed against former DPO Ali Nasir Rizwi, DSP Mirza Arif Rasheed and Saddar SHO while a joint investigation committee (JIT) was also investigating the case independently. The JIT earlier had taken 6 police officials into custody and later nominated two former SHOs Riaz Abbas and Younas Dogar in the case.

It may be noted that Mudassar’s mother and his lawyer Sardar Ali Ahmed Dogar had earlier told the media that the previous FIR of Mudassar’s killing had nominated former SHO Younas Dogar. They told that despite the court’s order, the JIT did not record their statements. They alleged that the police were pressuring them to withdraw the names of former DSP Mirza Arif Rasheed Baig and former DPO Ali Nasir. They also said that the police were offering them money to withdraw the case.
