CM Khattak takes notice of alleged attack on doctors by Mardan nazim

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Tuesday took notice of the alleged attack on doctors by Mardan District Nazim Himayatullah Mayar.

In a video that surfaced on Monday, Mayar was apparently seen involved in a fight with doctors at the Mardan Medical Complex, he could also be seen shouting profanities at them.

The doctors, following the incident, requested the KP government to take notice of the nazim’s misconduct.

CM Khattak said that nobody can be allowed to spread chaos in the province, in any manner.

He also said that if action is taken against the nazim for his alleged misbehaviour, it should not be politicised as “revenge politics”.

The case is still to be investigated as it is still not clear why Mayar stormed into the Mardan Medical Complex and assaulted the doctors present inside.

This was not the first time that Mayar was seen assaulting medical officials. Last year, Mardan Police registered a case against him over an apparent manhandling of a doctor at the Mardan Medical Complex.

An FIR was registered against Mayar at the request of Dr Shakeel Ahmed.

According to the FIR, the district nazim allegedly kept him under confinement for some time and threatened to kill him.
