PM’s adviser on aviation shows dismay over slow pace of renovation work
PESHAWAR: While showing dismay over the delay in completing the renovation and expansion of Bacha Khan International Airport, Peshawar, Prime Minister’s Aviation Advisor, Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan has strictly directed the concerned authorities to complete the project within stipulated time adding that further delay would not be tolerated.
He said that Peshawar is the capital of the province and an important destination due to its geographical location,
He expressed these views during a surprise visit to the airport in Peshawar on Sunday.
Senators Mohsin Aziz and Javed Abbasi, officials of the aviation division, and CAA were also present on the occasion.
Mahtab inspected different sections of the airport and reviewed the ongoing renovation and expansion work. He also directed to ensure the provision of facilities to the passengers as per international standards. Peshawar Airport Manager Samar Rafique gave a detailed briefing to the adviser regarding the work going on.
He informed that a multi-story car parking will be constructed with the capacity of accommodating 900 cars. Whereas, the new international and domestic lounge will have the capacity of holding up to 1500 passengers.
Sardar Mahtab directed the authorities to ensure the quality standards in the project. He said that Peshawar is an important city and this airport will serve as the hub of air travel. He also stated that the airport was of great importance in the context of CPEC and its importance will increase in the time to come.
The adviser observed that it is the need of an hour to provide an airport at par with international standards, therefore the incumbent government has launched the project of its renovation and expansion to ensure that passengers are provided with the best possible facilities.
Mahtab while expressing displeasure over the slow pace of renovation at the airport and directed the concerned officials to ensure transparency of this important project within stipulated time.
