LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have announced to work together for the coming Senate elections and both parties will form a committee to ensure cooperation for the purpose.
The decision was announced by PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi and PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi while speaking to the media after a meeting in Lahore on Sunday.
“It has been decided that we [PTI and PML-Q] will contest the Senate election together,” former Punjab chief minister Elahi announced.
Meanwhile, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain contacted Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari over telephone to discuss Senate elections and other political matters.
It was further reported that Asif Ali Zardari had also extended an invitation to Shujat and Elahi for a dinner at the Bilawal House, which was accepted by the PML-Q leaders.
Elahi said that the PML-Q supported the PPP government in the past and an electoral alliance between the two parties was a possibility.
