KARACHI: Three men were arrested on Saturday in the metropolis over separate incidents of alleged sexual assault against minors.
Police arrested the brother of a minor boy who went missing on Thursday and whose dead body was later recovered from bushes near the Stadium Road’s National Coaching Centre, on the suspicion of carrying out the heinous crime.
According to details, police state that the suspect is the elder brother of the victim and is a drug addict and committed the crime after an argument with the father.
The post-mortem report of the seven-year-old boy conducted earlier revealed that the minor was killed after being subjected to sexual abuse.
Forensic teams recovered the wire used to strangle the child along with his sandal from the crime scene.
Civil Hospital Medico-Legal Officer (MLO) Dr Shahid said that the minor had been strangled to death after the sexual assault. A case was registered at the New Town Police Station.
In another incident, a man who allegedly tried to sexually assault a minor girl was arrested Friday night in the city’s Sher Shah area after law enforcement authorities (LEAs) were alerted by the girl’s parents.
The alleged abuser is said to be the minor girl’s neighbour, and that the parents of the minor were informed of the incident by the area’s residents.
Meanwhile, a man was taken into custody for allegedly raping his 11-year-old stepdaughter from Manzoor Colony area of Karachi.
Accused Naveed Mehar said that the allegation levelled against him is baseless and false, saying that girl’s mother threw her out of the house in anger after which the minor, in revenge, accused him of rape.
The allegations of rape against Naveed Mehar were also levelled by the victim’s biological father, who had divorced the victim’s mother in 2009.
According to the biological father’s claim, the girl and her brother had been living with their mother and step-father when the rape took place.
However, according to law enforcement agencies, the truth will become clear after the report of DNA test conducted on the minor.
