Says Kashmiri youth will successfully introduce revolution with their sacrifices
LAHORE: Provincial Higher Education Minister Syed Raza Ali Gillani on Saturday said that freedom was an inalienable right of every individual.
Addressing a ceremony in connection with the Kashmir Solidarity Day at the Aiwane Iqbal, Raza said that India will have to change its approach towards Kashmir and the Kashmiri people, and put an end to the atrocities committed against those who seek nothing but freedom.
The ceremony was held by the Unique Group of Institutions in collaboration with the Punjab Higher Education Department and was attended by a large number of students and teachers from different schools and colleges of the city.
The education minister said that Kashmir was an integral part of Pakistan and diplomatic support would be provided to the Kashmiris in a bid to gain freedom from the despotic yoke of India. He said that the armed forces of Pakistan had pushed the Indian army to the wall in the Kargil war, adding that India must cease its cowardly acts of oppression.
Speaking on the occasion, Mushaal Malik, who is the wife of Kashmiri freedom fighter Yasin Malik, said that the youth have always brought about revolutions through their movements, adding that the Kashmiri youth would be successful in introducing a revolution within the Indian-occupied Kashmir through their sacrifices.
Speaking to the students, she said that Burhan Wani at quite a young age exposed the Indian atrocities, adding that his act had laid bare the mentality of the Indians to the whole world.
Mushaal said the fifth generation in the Indian held Kashmir was at war with the extremist government in New Delhi and expressed hope that Kashmir would soon be free. She said that India would never succeed in its nefarious designs.
She urged the Pakistani youth to continue supporting the Kashmir cause and said that Kashmiris demand reaffirmation of love from the Pakistani youth. She said the ceremony had set a benchmark for other institutions and governments to observe the solidarity day.
MNA Kiran Dar also urged the international community to support the Kashmir cause, adding that the British Labour Party had included Kashmir in their manifesto and the day was not far away when all the countries would follow suit.
Poets Amjad Islam Amjad and Rehman Faris presented their poetry on Kashmir and enthralled the audience.
Former chairman of the Punjab University’s journalism department, Dr Shafiqiue Jallundhri and the Unique Group of Institutions rector also spoke on the occasion.
Later, the higher education minister presented souvenirs and presents to Mushaal Malik and her mother Rehana Malik.
PA SESSION ON KASHMIR DAY:
A special session of the Punjab Assembly would be held on February 5 in connection with the Kashmir Solidarity Day. Although a national holiday would be observed on Monday, the session has been called after it was demanded by MPAs of the ruling PML-N, Waheed Gull and Dr Farzana earlier this week.
The lawmakers had demanded a session to address the Kashmir issue and requested the PA speaker to call the assembly session on the day to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiris.
