Father pardons differently-abled daughter’s rapist

LAHORE:  Father of a 17-year-old hearing impaired girl pardoned her rapist in a Gujjar Khan sessions court on Thursday after being made to sign an affidavit stating the same by influential elders of the area.

According to reports, Munir Ahmed, father of the victim, had filed a complaint in police station (PS) Gujar Khan, against a man on February 6, 2016, in which he stated that he witnessed his daughter being sexually assaulted while returning home from fields one day.

According to the police, the girl was then taken to District Headquarters Hospital in Gujjar Khan for a medical exam, and while the exam proved that there was rape, no DNA samples were taken to identify the suspect.

The man escaped before he could be caught by the victim’s family and remained an absconder for the next two years. The assaulter then made an appearance before the court where the girl’s father pardoned him.

According to Munir Ahmad, during the hearing, the complaint had been registered against the suspect by mistake and he now wanted to withdraw it.
