KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Friday nominated party candidates for the upcoming Senate elections, it has been reliably learned.
According to sources, the PPP Parliamentary Board that conducted interviews of the aspiring candidates had shortlisted the names of the leaders who would contest elections on PPP tickets.
Those who were in the running for the Senate elections included, Dr Sikandar Mendhro, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, Mian Raza Rabbani, Murtaza Wahab, Maula Bux Chandio, Khalid Khan Advocate, Naveed Anthony, Noman Abdullah (son Abdullah Murad), Nida Khuhro (daughter of Nisar Khuhro) and Quratul Ain Marri (sister of Shazia Marri).
According to sources, more than 100 candidates were competing to get hold of the party ticket for the Senate elections, however, the central leadership of the party chose the above-mentioned candidates to contest the elections. The interviews were conducted by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Qaim Ali Shah and Faryal Talpur.
