HIGH COMMISSIONER OF PAKISTAN TO CANADA, TARIQ AZIM KHAN IN A MEETING WITH MR. ALEX NEVE, SECRETARY GENERAL AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL, CANADA DISCUSSED HUMAN RIGHTS VIOLATIONS IN INDIAN OCCUPIED KASHMIR IN OTTAWA.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan High Commissioner (HC) to Canada Tariq Azim Khan, on Friday, met Amnesty International Secretary General (SG) Alex Neve, in Canada to discuss the Indian ruthlessness being carried out against innocent Kashmiris.

According to a message received here, the high commissioner briefed the secretary general on the situation in Indian occupied Kashmir where hundreds of civilians, especially the youth, were blinded through use of pellet guns by the occupational forces.

Pellet shotguns have been responsible for blinding, killing and traumatising thousands of people in occupied Kashmir and violate international standards under United Nations (UN) code of conduct, he added.

The high commissioner underlined that Canada is considered as the flag bearer and champion of human rights, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, in his forthcoming visit to India, should take up the issue of human rights violations in the Indian occupied Kashmir.

The secretary-general informed the high commissioner that it is unfortunate that India is not allowing access to Amnesty International and other international human rights organisations to visit parts of Kashmir which are under siege by the Indian forces.

He informed the high commissioner that Amnesty International will urge Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to take up the human rights violations issue with the Indian government during his visit.

He also briefed the high commissioner about the postcard campaign, against the use of pellet guns, initiated by Amnesty International India.

Pakistan doled out Rs 200 crore to separatists, terrorists, and Hurriyat leaders to create unrest in Jammu & Kashmir after the killing of Hizb-ul-Mujahiddin commander Burhan Wani in July 2016. The money arrived through hawala route via Delhi’s Chandni Chowk and Ballimaran from Saudi Arabia/Dubai and the High Commission of Pakistan in New Delhi played a major role in this regard.

India’s most wanted terrorist Hafiz Saeed had also paid Rs 10-12 crore to All Party Hurriyat Conference (APHC-Geelani) chief SAS Geelani to carry out anti-India agitation after the killing of Burhan Wani.

In a chargesheet filed in the terror funding case in the Patiala House court, the National Investigating Agency (NIA) has revealed that Pakistan was also offering fellowship and scholarship programme to the children of the people of Jamnu & Kashmir if they are ready to join terror groups.

According to the chargesheet, Nayeem Khan, an accused in the Jammu & Kashmir terror funding case, revealed that the secessionists and terrorists of the Valley were receiving financial support from Pakistan and would have received approximately Rs 200 crore to organise anti-India protests and agitations after the killing of Burhan Wani.

“These funds have reached them from Saudi Arabia/Dubai through hawala via Ballimaran and Chandni Chowk in Delhi. APHC(G) chief SAS Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq (APHC-M) and Yasin Malik of JKLF (Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front) received funds from Pakistan, and the High Commission of Pakistan in New Delhi played a major role in this regard.”
