BARA: Hundreds of tribesmen and leaders of political parties staged a protest demonstration against what they alleged is mass arrests and brutal behaviour of Khyber Rifles(FC) against the citizens of Landikotal.

The protesters belonging to Landikotal, including businessmen, political parties’ leaders and youths gathered at Bacha Khan Chowk in Landikotal bazaar and chanted slogans against Khyber Rifles’ officials. They were holding placards and black flags to record their protest against the misbehaviour of the officials and the mass arrests of innocent patriotic citizens of Landikotal.

Speaking on the occasion, Jamat-e-Islami (JI) Naib Ameer Zar Noor Afridi, Awami National Party (ANP) Khyber Agency leader Shah Hussain Shinwari, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) Landikotal leader Abdur Raziq Shinwari and Zarqeeb Shinwari strongly criticised the misbehaviour of security agency’s officials.

The protesters said that the FC action disseminated hate against them. They accused that some FC officials in Landikotal spoil the good image of security forces among the citizens of the country.

“The FC officials should make their intelligence sources better rather than make mass arrests for a single crime committed by unknown person. They should stop annoying innocent people in the name of security measures,” they expressed.

Expressing their grievances they further said that FC had snatched non-custom paid vehicles from poor people which they were using as taxis and earning bread for their families.

They appealed to Chief of Army Staff Qamar Javed Bajwa and Frontier Corps inspector general to take immediate notice of the situation.

The leaders threatened if their demands were not addressed, they would block the Pak-Afghan highway in Landikotat and will expand protest demonstrations countrywide against the discrimination.
