KARACHI – After the police remained unable to apprehend Rao Anwar as the deadline given by the Supreme Court to arrest the former SSP expired on Tuesday, it has been learnt Friday that the ex-cop is hiding at a local Maan Jao Na screening.

Eyewitnesses from both Capri and Atrium cinemas have told The Dependent that they saw Rao Anwar at the screening on the first day of the Lollywood film’s release.

Further investigation into the cellular data of the former SSP Malir conducted by The Dependent confirmed his presence at both aforementioned screenings.

“I’m hiding at a place where no one is likely to come. It’s possibly the safest place in all of Karachi ;),” read a WhatsApp message that Anwar had sent on Friday.

“Also, it won’t be much better over the next two days, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be the only one here on the weekdays.”

Managers at the cinemas have told The Dependent off the record that they believe they might’ve seen Rao Anwar as well, who is regularly switching screenings.

“For one, he kept calling the film Maar Jao Na. Secondly, he asked us thrice that ‘Punjab Nahi Jaungi won’t be screening this week right?’” the manager of a leading cinema told The Dependent.
