PTI office holders running personal businesses despite restriction: report

PESHAWAR: Many ministers and office holders belonging to the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) are involved in side businesses despite the restriction imposed by the provincial government on conducting private businesses, reported a local English daily.

The provincial assembly approved a bill, “The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Prevention of Conflict of Interest Act,” however, since this bill is not applicable on relatives, some ministers are conducting businesses in the names of their relatives, according to the report.

The PTI chief Imran Khan had earlier claimed that PTI would introduce laws to prevent a holder of government office from doing business. It has been five years that the PTI was elected into office and the PTI members are involved in their own businesses despite holding government offices.
