SARGODHA: Dispelling the impression of backpedalling or involving in any deal with the Punjab government, spiritual leader Pir Hameeduddin Sialvi on Thursday said that the Punjab government has deceived them.
“Even if a treasure trove was placed in front of us, we will not compromise on our self-esteem,” he said while addressing a news conference in Sargodha, along with his son Shahibzada Qasim Sialvi.
“The Punjab government has only deceived us. We will not fall for their deception again,” he added.
He said that Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif personally visited him at his spiritual abode in Sial Sharif, and he acted as a courteous host, which unfortunately has been interpreted as a deal by his opponents.
He said that CM Shehbaz has assured him on the resignation of Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah. He clarified that they have neither backtracked nor made any deal, while the parliamentarians have sold their self-esteem and respect for assembly seats.
Sialvi’s son Qasim Sialvi said that neither they made any deal with the Punjab government nor received anything in return.
“We have not made any political deal but instead we decided to resolve the issue through talks,” he said adding that a six-member was formed but they did not receive any positive response from the Punjab government.
He said they had only postponed their call for anti-government protests and not called it off completely which has been considered as a deal by their opponents.
He dispelled baseless rumours that they received any payments, or were threatened that the Auqaf department would take over their shrine in Sial Sharif.
The younger Sialvi said that no one was compelled to tender their resignation, neither was anyone instructed to withdraw them. He said that there is no power on earth, which can force them to step away from their campaign.
It may be noted that last week, CM Punjab had met Sialvi after which his anti-government protests and agitation was called off. Sialvi had given a deadline for the implementation of the Shariah law and the resignation of the Punjab law minister.
