Victim’s family being pressurised to withdraw case against Saddar police
KASUR: The police have failed to produce in the session court the documents needed as evidence to prove that the case of Mudassar’s killing is being heard by the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
As per the details, the mother of deceased Mudassar – killed in a fake encounter by the district’s Saddar police – had filed the writ petition in the session court. The police had told the court that the case was being heard by the Supreme Court, on which the court had given two days to the police to provide the apex court’s record.
On Thursday, while on one hand, the police failed to provide the documents to the court, on the other, the complainant, Jamila Bibi told the court that the police was not recording her statement, on which the judge ordered the enquiry team to record the statement of the deceased’s mother. The session court then adjourned the hearing till next week.
Meanwhile, Inspector Riaz Abbas appeared before the JIT to record his statement in the case of Mudassar’s encounter. According to sources, Riaz informed the enquiry officers that he was the CIA in-charge in Kasur when the police brought Mudassar to his police station. He said the Saddar police investigated the matter by itself and later denied the allegations of being involved in the encounter.
While speaking to the media, Mudassar’s lawyer Sardar Ali Ahmed Dogar told that some influential persons in the police department are pressurising Mudassar’s family to withdraw the case against the Saddar police.
He appealed to the Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the chief justice of Pakistan to take action against those involved in the alleged extrajudicial murder of Mudassar and ensure a transparent investigation into the case.
