KHANEWAL: A young man was tortured on Wednesday by residents of Kabirwala town in Khanewal district on the accusation of having a relationship with a girl from the area.
Amir, a resident of Ali Pur was beaten up, dragged into the alleys and forced to act like a dog before being handed over to the police by the locals.
According to reports, the culprits, believed to be people of influence let him go after being ‘paid’ Rs30,000. They have also seized the victim’s motorcycle.
District Police Officer (DPO) Khanewal Rizwan Umar Gondal took notice of the issue and visited the area where he suspended the SHO of Sarai Sidhu and an assistant sub-inspector for ‘neglecting their duties.’
A first-information report of the incident, however, has still not been filed, with police insisting upon first identifying and arresting the accused.
