BZU student accuses professor, fellow student of sexual assault

MULTAN: A student of Multan’s Bahauddin Zakria University (BZU) on Wednesday accused a professor and fellow student of raping her.

According to a private media outlet, the girl informed the police that she had reported the incident to the vice-chancellor of the varsity back when the incident took place – a year ago – but the university authorities took no action against the accused.

Approaching the police along with her father, the girl further alleged that the professor, who is a member of faculty at the Saraiki department of the BZU, had invited the girl to his home to meet his wife, but she was sexually assaulted upon reaching there.

Nominating six individuals in her report, the girl alleged that she was blackmailed by all six of them on the basis of the video that was recorded by the assaulters during rape.

Gulgasht SP Imran Jalil while speaking to the media outlet said that an investigation is underway and a case would be filed following the initial investigation.

The victim has been shifted to Multan’s Women Protection Centre, where other than being medically examined, she would also be provided with legal assistance, SP Jalil added.
