SIALKOT: A woman on Tuesday was allegedly subjected to brutal torture by her husband and in-laws for giving birth to a girl.
According to 22-year-old Urooj of Sialkot, her husband Zaheer and his parents beat her for once again giving birth to a girl. This was the second time that Urooj had given birth to a girl and evidently this did not settle well with her husband or her in-laws.
“My mother-in-law asked me why I had given birth to a girl. They attempted to kill me but residents of the area saved my life,” she said.
Torture marks can be seen clearly on Urooj’s face. She is currently undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital, Duska and her newborn baby girl is in her custody.
The police have arrested the suspect and registered a case against Urooj’s in-laws.
An investigation is underway.
