Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz clarified on Tuesday that suspended Malir Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rao Anwar had never used any of his airplanes for transportation and said that he hoped that the absconder responsible for the extrajudicial killing of Naqeebullah Mehsud is brought to justice soon.
The real estate tycoon said that he had been using only two personal aircrafts since the last eight years, adding that none of them were provided to Rao Anwar. The suspended SSP had been on the run ever since a joint investigation team found his involvement in the murder of the South Waziristan native in Karachi.
Apart from giving the clarification, Malik Riaz also addressed the Pukhtuns living in the port city, especially the family and relatives of the deceased. He said, “I am grieving over Naqeebullah’s death in the same manner as his parents.” He further added, “Naqeebullah was like my own son and I stand in complete solidarity with his kin.”
Furthermore, the Bahria Town chairman also said that he had never supported any criminal in his life, adding that he had a clean record in this regard. “In the end, the law would prevail and the culprit would be given an exemplary punishment,” the real estate tycoon said.
Earlier, a joint investigation team had revealed in its report that Naqeebullah was killed in a ‘staged’ encounter. The report also said that Anwar had conducted around 745 encounters in the last seven years and killed 444 people in the process.
