PTI submits resolution against Dr Asim’s appointment as HEC chairman

KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday submitted a resolution in the Sindh assembly against the appointment of Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) leader Dr Asim Hussain as the Chairman of the Sindh Higher Education Commission.

While talking to the media outside Sindh Assembly, PTI Member Provincial Assembly Khurram Sher Zaman said that the appointment of Dr Asim as HEC Chairman is shameful, adding that the much one gets closer to the senior leadership, the larger share he gets.

“Dr Asim is facing corruptions charges in the courts worth Rs462 million”, he alleged. He also questioned about the efficacy of education emergency declared by the Sindh chief minister in the province. He vowed that his party would raise this issue in and outside the assembly, adding that the matter may be taken to the knock court if required.

Khurram Sher Zaman said that appointing a man facing billions of rupees corruption charges before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) would be a sheer injustice to the poor people of the Sindh province.

“PPP is least concerned with the merit in the entire province as it has people like Rao Anwar and Dr Asim who are playing with the lives of people of the province”, he concluded.
