SIALKOT: Chief Justice (CJ) of Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Mansur Ali Shah on Tuesday stressed the need of promotion of a good working relationship between the bar and the bench to provide early and easy justice to the poor, oppressed and needy besides curbing the menace of injustice.
Addressing an important meeting of the district judiciary, the LHC chief justice revealed that both the judiciary and the lawyers’ community should play their pivotal role in ensuring smooth provision of justice and removing all the hurdles from the way.
Sialkot District and Session Judge (DSJ) Malik Zulqarnain, Narowal DSJ Muhammad Yousaf Aujla, Sialkot District Bar Association (DBA) President Khawaja Irfanul Haq, ADSJs and civil judges were also present on the occasion.
Mansur Ali Shah while stressing the need to make sincere efforts to provide a better working atmosphere with a sole aim to dispense speedy justice to the needy, poor and the oppressed at their doorsteps said that a pleasant atmosphere was also vital to bring betterment in mutual working between the bar and the bench.
Later, the LHC chief justice visited the Yaadgar-e-Shuhada in the Sialkot district jail and paid tribute to the judges who were martyred during an ambush with the prisoners-cum-captors in the Sialkot jail tragedy almost fifteen years ago. He also offered Fateha for eternal peace of the departed souls.
The CJ also stressed the need for an early completion of the trial of the Sialkot jail tragedy case, which has been lying pending in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
He assured the local judiciary to play his role in getting the slain judges of the Sialkot jail tragedy officially declared as martyrs. The local judiciary and senior judges earlier had demanded the official status of martyrs for the judges killed by the captors in the tragic incident that took place on July 25, 2003.
