ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Mian Raza Rabbani said that cooperation among ECO member states is imperative for shared prosperity.
He said this while addressing the 3rd ECO attorneys and prosecutors general conference in Islamabad on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the chairman said that Pakistan strongly condemns the recent terrorist attacks in Kabul, adding that all acts of terrorism are condemnable. He added that the development cannot be achieved without regional stability.
Chairman Raza Rabbani also said that Pakistan government is also taking action against human traffickers and smugglers. He emphasised the need for promotion of national and international cooperation in this regard.
He also said that environment for investment is conducive in Pakistan, and invited entrepreneurs to benefit from it. He said that the 21st century belongs to Asia and therefore, “we have to enhance linkages”.
Pakistan holds the chair as the 13th ECO summit was held in Islamabad in March last year.
Earlier, Foreign Office spokesperson in a statement said that Pakistan has always played an active role to ensure regional integration and interdependence amongst member states. He added that Pakistan is working for the implementation of the agreements in the Islamabad Declaration and Vision 2025 adopted in March last year in Islamabad.
