ISLAMABAD: The Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) is to review the bill, ‘Criminal Law Amendment Act 2018’ seeking an amendment in the Pakistan Penal Code Act’s Section 364-A on the kidnapping or abduction of a person under the age of 14, reported a local English daily.
According to the newspaper, the CII members are due to conduct a meeting regarding this case on February 8.
The CII will give its view on public hanging after discussing this with all the CII members, belonging to various schools of thought.
In a press conference last week, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif had announced public hanging as a punishment for the culprit who brutally raped and murdered seven-year-old Zainab in Kasur earlier this month.
There has been a huge demand from the general public to publicly execute the culprit behind this gruesome act, mainly arguing that any punishment of this kind will discourage such inhumane acts.
