Alleged robbers gun down Rangers personnel

KARACHI: A Sindh Rangers personnel was killed and a policeman injured on Monday in Landhi area of Karachi in an alleged robbery after both resisted the robbers.

Rangers Sepoy Abdul Rauf and Police Constable Umer Wahid were riding a bike when they were intercepted by two robbers at Landhi-89.

Both of them received bullet injuries and were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where Abdul Rauf succumbed to his injuries during the treatment.

SSP Malir Adeel Chandio told Dawn that both the security officials were in civilian clothes at the time of the incident.

Subsequently, the police claimed to have arrested two robbers who were involved in the killing of Rangers personnel and injuring the policeman.
