ISLAMABAD: A number of issues, regarding the inter-provincial matters, have yet to be tackled by the Council of Common Interests, as reported by The Express Tribune.

The CCI was established at the federal level to resolve the inter-provincial matters but the documents of the last four years show that the government does not have a good grip on affairs of the provinces even after eight years have passed since devolution.

According to documents, issues regarding oil and gas, agriculture income tax, regularisation of lady health workers, giving autonomous bodies and independent status are being actively ignored by the federal government.

CCI has still not been able to establish a secretariat where a proper discussion on these issues could take place. The CCI is currently working under the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC).

A sub-committee in December decided that the office should be in the Prime Minister Office and not with any ministry.
