RAWALPINDI: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) in its crackdowns against poor quality food suppliers in wedding ceremonies have sealed ten marriage halls in different districts of the province.
According to PFA Director General (DG) Noorul Amin Mengal, the PFA, in order to ensure supply of quality food to the people, is conducting raids and checking cleanliness situation and quality of ingredients being used to cook.
He said that strict action in accordance with the law is taken on violation of rules.
He also said that in recent raids conducted in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Jhelum, 46 marriage halls were imposed heavy fines while 351 were issued notices.
The authority had started proper surveillance of the marriage halls to ensure quality and hygiene of food and proper cleanliness in the marriage halls, he said. He added that only license holders would be allowed to run catering companies and marriage halls.
He further said that the authority is imparting proper training to all the workers in PFA training school.
