Straight off the runway: LFW hair trends introduced in Pakistan

LAHORE: People in Pakistan has witnessed various fashion weeks being held in the country, however one thing that remains constant on the runway are the hair trends. Experimenting with hair is something that people are always afraid to do; neither on the runway nor in normal life.

From fashion hair colours to Avant Garde hair, this is something that still needs to be experimented here, even though it is something that has taken International Fashion Weeks by storm. With a growing fashion industry, another thing that needs to be experimented with is the hair.

Thus, to change the hair game in the country; one of the best international hairdressing brand Toni and Guy’s Lahore Chapter along with the leading fashion week hair products brand Label M has launched their products in the country. Not only that, the two brands collaborated together to introduce runway hair trends in Pakistan earlier this week with their campaign #Wearetwo. The team introduced the hair trends from London Fashion Week (LFW) to the local hair stylists.

The idea was to inspire hairdressers on the latest hair trends and the techniques through the innovative use of products. Being the first of its kind for both the brands, it welcomed international hairdressers who flew in from the UK.

Label M’s International Educational Director, Gary France and International Ambassador, Max Lamparter and the Toni and Guy team including Shammal Qureshi conducted the workshop aimed at educating the local stylist community about international trends and how they can be incorporated into the local fashion landscape.

There was a hair cutting segment, which showed the audience, how the stylists can create the perfect look making your facial features more prominent. Not only that, the other segments featured hair styling techniques for both men and women. From the resurrection haircut to the frizzy curly hair, we saw these maestros doing what they do best. Creating the frizzy curly hair look for a person with straight hair is usually a challenge for the stylists here, but this was demonstrated just right at this workshop.

From hairstylists to journalists, the event was attended by everyone with an interest in hair fashion. It was not just about transforming the hair trends for females, but for men as well. Permed hair and carrying fashion hair colours on the ramp was something new for the industry here.

As Gary France said while transforming one of the male models, “The hairdressers need to style according to the client’s personality, so it stands out more keeping the styling aesthetics in mind.”

With so much room to play with hair, with so many techniques to experiment with, especially with the hair texture of Pakistanis, this certainly opened up doors for future fashion shows to adapt to these international trends, as we have in other fields.

These trends have already made their mark in the international industry and are now a welcome sight in the Pakistani market. The idea for the collaboration is all about embodying fashion and self-expression, regardless of age, gender or cultural background. Thus, introducing these international standards into our industry, ushering Pakistan into a new age of makeup artistry has been an interesting concept.

The Label M experience pulsates with life; defining the line between fashion and self.
