Miscreants responsible for PU clashes deserve no leniency: CM Shehbaz

LAHORE: Addressing a high-level meeting on Saturday, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that those who broke the law and created disturbance in the Punjab University deserve no leniency and a strict action will be taken against them.

He said that no injustice will be done to anyone and violence at educational institutions is regrettable.

The chief minister said that the PU does not only belong to Punjab, but to the whole country and nobody will be allowed to disturb the learning environment in this institution or any other educational institute of the province.

A strict action against those who created violence in the university will be taken without any political consideration and the special committee constituted to look into the matter should present its report soon, he said.

CM Shehbaz said that a permanent and solid policy should be made to avoid such incidents in the future.

Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and KP are our provinces and it is our responsibility to provide the children seeking education in the institutions of these provinces the best educational environment.

Provincial minister Syed Ali Raza Gilani, Khawaja Ahmad Hasan, additional chief secretary home, inspector general police, commissioner Lahore division, Punjab University vice chancellor, Higher Education Commission Punjab chairman and other concerned officials also attended the meeting.
