PESHAWAR: A pet show at historic Edwards College on Saturday provided an opportunity to animal lovers to display their lovely pets and receive applause over the passion of keeping different breeds at homes.

This was the first time Edwards College held such an activity with the objective of bringing pet animals and lovers together and for encouraging the youth to involve in healthy activities.

Around 25 dog lovers, 20 cat lovers, one rabbit lover, horse lover and a hen lover brought their animal in the show.

The animal lovers brought different breeds of dogs including the German shepherd, pit bull, bull terrier, Labrador, Shih Tzu and Persian cats.   “The show was not restricted only to students of Edwards College, but provided equal opportunity to outsiders to participate and display their passion for pet keeping,” observed Edwards College Principal Professor Dr Nayyar Firdous.

Edwards College is not only an educational institution, but it also cares for promotion and preservation of the culture of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he told APP.

He said pet keeping is an old habit of people of the region which got moderation in the present age through the import of exotic species.
