Foundation stone laid for new building of management sciences dept at IUB

BAHAWALPUR: Islamia University of Bahawalpur Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qaiser Mushtaq laid the foundation stone of a new academic block for the faculty of Management Sciences at the Baghdadul Jadeed Campus on Friday.

According to a university spokesperson, the building costing Rs181 million is a part of the federal government-funded Rs860 million mega project for the construction of a new building for the faculty of management sciences, two hostels, an advanced chemistry lab and a civil engineering department at the University Engineering College besides the provision of 10 foreign indigenous scholarships.

The building will provide academic facilities to the departments of computer science and information technology as well as commerce and management sciences.

It may be noted that the mega project is the largest ever project obtained from the government in the history of the university.

During Dr Qaiser’s three-year tenure, four mega projects worth billions were completed including the construction of the buildings of the Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan Campuses, the Agriculture College and the faculty of education. A boundary wall 11.8 kilometres in length was also erected at the Baghdad ul Jadeed Campus in a record number of 41 days.
