LAHORE: Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) President Sardar Masood Khan called on former prime minister Nawaz Sharif at his residence on Friday and thanked him for launching mega development projects in the Azad Kashmir and making it part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The AJK president appreciated the keen interest shown by the former Prime Minister in the development of Azad Kashmir and doubling its budget.
Sardar Masood Khan informed Nawaz Sharif that work was going apace on projects relating to roads, energy, tourism, industry, health and education sectors and the development graph of the territory was going up speedily which is a good omen for the region.
He said certain projects under CPEC are under execution while planning is going on for other projects and work would begin on them soon. He said 720MW Karot Hydro Power Generation project would be completed by 2020 while feasibility study has been completed for 1120 MW Kohala Hydro Power Generation project.
The AJK president said that work would begin soon on Mirpur-Mansehra expressway.
He thanked the former prime minister and government of Pakistan for moral, diplomatic and political support for the rights of Kashmiri people who are suffering from increasing atrocities of Indian occupation forces. He, however, said that the struggle for freedom from India would continue.
