SIALKOT: Family of a Christian girl, who was murdered a year ago, staged a protest on Wednesday at the Kutchehri Chowk, over the inability of the police to trace the culprits even after the passage of a whole year, reported a local English daily.
The protesters were chanting slogans against the police and came equipped with banners and placards demanding for the arrest of the killers.
On Jan 23, 2017, the body of a young girl was found by the Sambrial police in the Upper Chenab Canal.
The police, at the time of the incident, had claimed that the girl had committed suicide by drowning herself in the canal. The bereaved family had maintained that the girl was content with her life and there was no reason for her to commit suicide.
A case was registered on abduction and murder of the girl upon the insistence of the family. The family has now urged Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif to take notice of the case and make sure that the culprits are arrested.
