ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) (Operations) Najeeb-ur-Rehman Bugvi has given a 15-day deadline to all the heads of police stations in the federal capital to ensure quality working environment and adopt effective policing measures in their respective areas.
He stated this during his first meeting with officials of Islamabad police which was attended by all superintendents of police (SPs), sub-divisional police officers (SDPOs) and station house officers (SHOs).
The SSP directed officers and police personnel for maintaining strict patrolling and vigilance to ensure effective policing. He further directed them to conduct a special crackdown against criminal elements, including absconders, bootleggers and drug pushers. He said it was the prime responsibility of police officials to protect the lives and properties of the citizens.
The SSP directed all police officials to work according to the vision of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sultan Azam Temuri and ensure registration of cases without any delay. He said that standard operating procedures should be adopted for those cases that were lagging due to financial constraints. He also ordered the officials concerned for the immediate redressal of property cases.
He directed for strict action against those involved in social crimes, drug peddling and bootlegging. Any police official or personnel found involved in activities along with these criminals would have to face action, he said.
Bugvi further directed for strict action against the land mafia. He directed the SPs to conduct thorough research and produce a map that would provide a complete picture of criminal incidents and to take effective measures to bring crime under control.
He categorically asked all police officials to focus on resolving the public complaints and take every possible step to provide maximum relief to the citizens.
The SSP said that corruption, violation of merit and inefficiency would not be tolerated, while adding that those found involved in such practices would have to face stern action. He also said that police officers and personnel would be awarded according to their performance.
