ISLAMABAD: United Nations Security Council’s (UNSC) sanctions monitoring team reached Islamabad on Wednesday.
According to sources, the team will check the progress made on sanctions placed on Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD), its relief organisation Falah-i-Insaniyat Foundation and other proscribed organisations.
While the Foreign Office spokesperson has declined to give details on the number of members of the UN team and their scheduled meetings, the Interior Ministry and National Counter Terrorism Authority officials will brief the team on the sanctions imposed by the government on the proscribed organisations.
On January 1, according to a notification issued by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), all companies were prohibited from “donating cash to the entities and individuals listed under the UNSC sanctions committee’s consolidated list”.
The organisations that are on the UNSC sanctions list include the JuD, Falah-i-Insaniyat Foundation, al-Qaeda, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, JuD and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
