LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday dismissed a constitutional petition seeking the disqualification of Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif from his post.

Earlier, the bench of the LHC had asked the litigant to explain under what law it could disqualify the Punjab chief minister, following which the bench had reserved its verdict on maintainability of the petition.

The petitioner had argued that the chief minister also held the post of the Punjab Mass Transit Authority chairman and it was not in accordance with the country’s constitution for a public office holder to hold two posts at the same time.

He had pleaded to the court to disqualify the chief minister under Article 63 of the constitution.
