No progress yet in Asma murder case

MARDAN: An initial report on Tuesday was submitted to the committee responsible for conducting an investigation into the rape and murder of a four-year-old girl, Asma.

However, no important developments were seen despite the passage of around 11 days, according to details.

Earlier, a meeting of the district government was disrupted by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) leader Wajid Ali, who accused the local administration of corruption.

The district government requested the chief justice of Pakistan to take notice of the disruption created by the PTI leader.

Mardan police have obtained samples of as many as 200 suspicious people, for the DNA test. District councillor Hamayatullah also accused the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police of concealing the medical report.

The student wing of Awami National Party had also staged a protest against the delay in the investigation of Asma murder case and Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had strongly condemned the incident, calling it a horrible crime.
