ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Aviation Sardar Mehtab Abbassi on Tuesday informed the Senate that there was no plan to privatise the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). He also said that the management was working hard to restructure the airline and to regain its glory of the past.

“Practically, I have no knowledge that any move is being made to privatise the national airline and do not see any process to privatise the PIA, as the privatisation process may take 3 to 5 years,” said Mehtab.

It is not possible to privatise the PIA in the remaining four months of the government, he added.

Mehtab said after the presentation of the report under Rule 265A of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Senate 2012, on the status of implementation of the recommendations contained in the second interim report of the Special Committee on the performance of the PIA.
