PM lauds Dr Ishfaq’s role for Pakistan’s nuclear capability

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Sunday lauded the role of late nuclear physicist Dr Ishfaq Ahmad in the development of Pakistan’s nuclear capability and making the defence of our motherland impregnable.

He said every Pakistani was indebted to Dr Ishfaq Ahmad for his selfless services to the nation.

PM Abbasi expressed heartfelt sympathies for the bereaved family and said the entire nation shares their grief and loss. A wreath was also laid at the grave of Dr Ishfaq on behalf of the prime minister.

Pakistani nuclear physicist and former head of Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission Dr Ishfaq Ahmad had passed away on Thursday at age 87.

Following his death, the PAEC had acknowledged the deceased scientist’s contribution, saying his services in the field of nuclear energy were exemplary.

Dr Ishfaq, who had also served as the former science advisor to the government of Pakistan, was heading the PAEC when Pakistan became a nuclear power in 1998.

His work was also acknowledged by the government of Pakistan and other institutions on various occasions.
