Supporters of former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Sunday held a demonstration against former information minister Pervaiz Rasheed amid growing tensions between the two leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
The protesters gathered in Union Council Dhok Munshi and raised slogans against the Rasheed.
The protest came days after Nisar lashed out at Rasheed, saying if the premier had allowed making Dawnleaks report public, it would have exposed the former information minister.
The locals also set Rasheed’s posters on fire and chanted pro-Nisar slogans. The protests came after Punjab CM Shehbaz Sharif had recommended the Rasheed to avoid giving certain statements in media over his ongoing row with party leader Chaudhry Nisar.
Commenting on the rift between Nisar and Rashid, Shehbaz Sharif had favoured the former and called him a “senior leader and close confidant of Nawaz”. He advised his elder brother to summon both leaders to resolve their differences.
He said that the party President Nawaz Sharif will himself resolve the matter, explaining that the matter of differences between members of a “democratic” political party is not unusual.
