Five injured as jeep falls into gorge in Balakot

BALAKOT: At least five people were seriously injured when a jeep fell into a gorge after it skidded off road at Shogran Road on late Friday.

Police said that a jeep with registration number GLT-9121 carrying five people got off control from driver due to slipperiness caused by snowfall on the way to Shogran from Kiwai and it plunged into a deep ravine.

Five people including driver Khawar s/o Babar Hussain, Shah Zaman s/o Khalid Farooq, Usman s/o Farooq and two others, all residents of Garhi Habibullah were injured in the accident.

The police and dwellers of the area through joint efforts pulled up the injured from the gorge and shifted them to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital Balakot from where they were referred to DHQ Mansehra.
