Anti-Pakistan ads not supported by US: report

WASHINGTON: The United States (US) on Friday assured Pakistan that no group threatening the country’s territorial integrity, is being supported by the country, reported a local newspaper.

Pakistan’s ambassador in Washington, Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhary said that Pakistan has discussed this problem with the State Department and they have given the surety that they have always supported Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He reiterated that the US Assistant Secretary of State Alice Wells on her visit to Pakistan gave a similar assurance saying that US considers Pakistan’s enemy as its own enemy”.

He said that there are a few negative posters and billboards about Pakistan that have been seen in New York but they were removed as soon as they appeared.

Pakistan raised this issue with the State Department as well as with other US government agencies that reiterated that US does not support any such campains and that these groups were just using the freedom that the US freedom of expression law gives them.

Similar advertisements had appeared in London and Geneva and Pakistan was able to get them removed.
