KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday ordered the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) to take action against DSP Abdul Hafeez Junejo and other officials who are involved in illegal detention and filing fake cases against people.

The court has directed the Sindh IG AD Khawaja to submit a detailed report in this regard, in the next hearing. The chief justice has also taken notice of the case.

According to the petition filed with the SHC, the CTD officials illegally detained Khanzada, Syed Waqas Hussain, and Aziz Gul, who were then recovered by a judicial magistrate in a raid as directed by a session court.

It was also stated in the petition that physical remand of the detainees was taken by the authorities without informing the court, and terror charges were filed against the citizens, instead of releasing them.

The case has been adjourned until January 24.
