Punjab Nahi Jaungi becomes the highest grossing Pakistani film!

2017’s biggest blockbuster, Punjab Nahi Jaungi (PNJ), featuring Mehwish Hayat and Humayun Saeed in lead roles along with Urwa Hocane and Ahmed Ali Butt, has crossed the 50 crore mark becoming the first Pakistani film to do so.

Pakistan’s film industry is still ‘reviving’ and is undergoing major shifts as new talent and ideas pour in, however, 2017 was a bad year for films as none of them managed to leave much of a mark, except PNJ, which won hearts and applause from all over the world and the recently revealed box office figures are proof of that.

The romantic comedy film, written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar and directed by Nadeem Baig also starres Saba Hameed, Waseem Abbas, Azfar Rehman, Behroze Sabzwari and Safina Sheikh.

Humayun Saeed expressed his joy on this milestone on Twitter, where he wrote, “So humbled by the continuous love you have shown to #PunjabNahiJaungi. Thank you for making it the highest grossing Pakistani film ever! Masha Allah.”

Similarly, Mehwish Hayat wrote, “Another Landmark! Truly blessed and overwhelmed!! Thankyouuuuu for loving my film Punjab Nahi Jaungi sooo much and making it the first Pakistani movie to cross 50 crores mark worldwide. Breaking the record of my previous film JPNA mashaAllah. I am out of words. LOVE U ALL.”

Humayun Saeed is currently shooting for Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2, while Mehwish Hayat’s next film is titled Load Wedding. Both films are expected to release this year.
