ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office (FO) Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal has said that the FO has serious concerns over reports of Indian nationals joining the al Qaeda terrorist organisation.
Faisal, speaking during the weekly media FO briefing on Friday, said that the recent emergence of the terror outfit Islamic State (IS) in India, proves that terrorism has no roots.
He said that the recent meetings between the United States (US) officials and Pakistan were aimed at finding common targets in this regard; adding that the meetings continue which shows that there is a lot left to achieve.
Dr Faisal said that Pakistan is highlighting the issue of Afghan soil being used against Pakistan, with the Afghanistan government adding that IS, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Jamaat-ul-Ahrar among other terrorist groups have safe havens in Afghanistan. He said that full cooperation of countries in the region is needed in order to deal with this imminent threat.
Dr Faisal further said that Indian army chief’s highly provocative statement proved that the country has a war-mongering attitude.
He said that such irresponsible statements by Indian officials are threatening the regional peace.
The FO spokesperson said that the Indian deputy high commissioner has been summoned on recent ceasefire violations and martyrdom of Pakistani soldiers.
Referring to the involvement of Chinese nationals in ATM scam, he said that an investigation regarding the incident was underway but all of the Chinese nationals cannot be barred from entering the country over a few unpleasant incidents.
