QUETTA: Two Balochistan Constabulary personnel were gunned down, while one injured by unidentified men in the early hours of Thursday on Quetta’s Double Road, according to reports.
The personnel were reportedly deployed at a flyover in the area for security duty.
They were immediately rushed to the nearby Civil Hospital where two officials succumbed to their injuries while one is still under treatment. Police reached the crime site and started the investigation.
This is the second incident of such nature in three days in Quetta, according to the SSP Operations. On January 16, unidentified attackers gunned down a police officer on the city’s Raisani Road.
It is becoming increasingly common in Quetta for militants to target security officials, along with religious minorities.
On Monday, at least five security personnel were martyred and six others were injured in a gun attack which toppled a vehicle carrying security personnel near Kech district of Balochistan.
According to reports, unidentified armed men opened fire on a security convoy near Shapook area of the district. As a result, one of the vehicles in the convoy turned turtle after the attack, killing five personnel.
A suicide attack in Quetta last week that left five policemen dead was claimed by the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan, who later said that the target of the attack were police officials.
