ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has released Babar Ali, who had been accused of murdering a 15-year-old girl during a burglary in 2005, after 13 years.

A three-member bench of the SC headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa held the hearing of the case on Thursday.

During the hearing, the SC also expressed reservations over the improper training of the lower courts’ judges.

Justice Dost Muhammad said that the judges of lower courts need a high standard training like the one being provided to the CSS officers.

After the arguments, the court acquitted the accused from the case after 13 years while terminating the decision of the high court that had handed over life imprisonment to Babar.

It is pertinent to mention that the trial court of Pakpattan had announced death penalty for the accused, which was later changed into life imprisonment by the high court.
