Pakistan expresses condolences over plane crash in Turkey

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has conveyed condolences to the people of Turkey on the loss of precious lives as a result of a crash of a military plane, according to a foreign office statement on Thursday.

“The news of a military plane crash in Isparta province of Turkey on 17 January 2018 has been received with grief and sorrow in Pakistan”, the foreign office statement read.

”Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this tragedy as well as with all those who have lost their loved ones”, the statement said.

Three Turkish soldiers were killed after a CASA-type military aircraft crashed in the Central Anatolian province of Isparta on January 17.

Isparta Governor confirmed that two pilots and one technician were killed in the crash, which occurred in a rural area of Isparta’s Yalvaç district.

Günaydın said the cause of the crash is still unknown but noted that weather conditions were foggy during the flight.

The Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) issued a statement after the crash, saying the debris of the plane and the bodies of the three on board have been recovered.
