More than 2400 birds, animals bred in captivity: Jallo Park 2017 report

LAHORE: Jallo Park Annual Report was released recently according to which around 2,400 animals and birds were bred in captivity and around 500 animals died in the year 2017.

Jallo Park is a public recreation and wildlife site in Lahore and is spread over an area of 461 acres. It is one of the three main wildlife parks located in the city and includes a Forest Research Centre, Wildlife Breeding Center, restaurants, coffee shops, a theme park, a sports complex, swimming pool, and a large lake for fishing and boating.

According to the 2017 annual report, a total number of 18,000 people visited the park. Under the Development of Jallo Safari Project, Rs4o million was spent in the last year for various development projects in the park.

Construction of an office line, water tanker and turbine work took place in the last year while efforts will also be made in the current year to upgrade the facilities provided to the tourists.

Moreover, the report also states that the park currently holds 43 different species of animals and birds that amount to more than 3,000 animals in the facility.

Jallo Park is currently funded by Government of Punjab’s Wildlife and Parks Department.
