Man in Jhelum arrested for ‘marital rape and sodomy’ on wife’s complaint

JHELUM: The Jhelum district Police on Thursday arrested a man for marital rape and sodomy.

According to the police, a case was registered against the man under Section 377 (unnatural offences) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) after the woman ‘N’ came to the police station and revealed her husband’s bestiality.

She told the police that her husband had warned her to not reveal his actions to anyone, and threatened to murder her if anyone found out. The woman further added that her husband had given her a verbal divorce twice in the past: first in April 2016 and the second time in December 2017.

She claimed that her husband physically abused her and demanded the authorities provide her justice.

According to Section 377 of Pakistan’s law: “Whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal, shall be punished with imprisonment for life, or with imprisonment of either description for a term which shall not be less than two years nor more than ten years, and shall also be liable to fine.”
